Damn Sam is an anti-settler-colonial song, acknowledging the violent removal of the indigenous people in order to establish the United States. Driving beats, blues guitar, the haunting cry of an oud and UnaSpenser’s scolding vocal performance combine to create a protest song reminiscent of the sixties, but reimagined with a contemporary sensibility.

Lyrics
Hey uncle
Reflect a little
On the state of your USian dream
Hey uncle
that world you whittle
aint carved from no lover’s tree
Hey uncle
it aint no riddle
Its forged from blood and screams
forged from blood and screams
Damn Sam
finger pointing man
stop your ‘splainin’
and give back the land
Damn Sam
Trigger pointing man
stop campaignin’
and Give back the land
GIVE BACK THE LAND!
Hey Uncle
you didn’t beckon
peace in the beak of a dove
Hey Uncle
you’re a weapon
destruction in the palm of your glove
Hey Uncle
Now we reckon
your dream is
what we’re tired of
your dream is
what we’re tired of
Damn Sam
finger pointing man
stop your ‘splainin’
Give back the land
Damn Sam
Trigger pointing man
stop campaignin’
Give back the land
GIVE BACK THE LAND!
Hey Uncle
That ain’t no wisdom
You be spewing on Turkey day
Hey Uncle
your sacred bizdom
Has too high a price to pay
Hey Uncle
shut up and listen
it’s time for your judgement day
Damn Sam
finger pointing man
stop your ‘splainin’
Give back the land
Damn Sam
Trigger pointing man
stop campaignin’
Give back the land
